Survivor: The Tribe Has Spoken

This game does take a little bit of setup and time to get used to playing, but after checking out the how to video and playing a round we found it brought up all kinds of sneakiness amongst our tribe. In our case we had four players playing — make sure to give enough time for a round as the first time may take a little longer until you’re used to the three things todo each turn :) after that gameplay speeds up.

I played this game last night with a group of five people ranging from 15 to adult and we enjoyed it. It's very quick to learn how to play and follow the rules, and we enjoyed some of the silliness around voting discussions and backstabbing and the like. We found some tribal drum music on YouTube to play during the tribal councils!

That being said, we felt like this game would be vastly improved with another layer of depth. Maybe something like food and shelter cards and you had to have one of each by the time a tribal council card appeared or your vote would be made randomly using a die instead of you choosing? That would also encourage keeping cards in hand to "protect" the cards you'd need. That and maybe cards that allow you to draw from the discard pile. Once all immunity idols were gone we knew no one could be immune and that changed things a bit as well.

We did enjoy the game and would play it again though!

Got a group together to play last night. A couple of die-hard survivor fans and a bunch of us who never watched the show. Those who knew the show said they felt just like being on TV. We laughed, we cried (not really), and we had an absolute blast. Everyone is looking forward to playing again.

We absolutely loved playing Survivor - and being avid fans made it even better. All of us were shouting after the first round & immediately the strategizing and backstabbing started to play out. With 6 people, it was immensely fun. We can’t imagine playing it with less than 5, and have discussed adding an intermission after round 2 so we can form alliances and talk strategy in the middle to really up the ante.

Highly recommend playing this with people you know really well, so you can have showmance couples, previously strong friendships turned enemies, and new alliances purely based on emotion.

Looking forward to the next time we all gather to play!

This was a very fun game to play with friends that makes everyone hate each other! It was really easy to learn with self explanatory cards. Only some of us had watched survivor but it was still enjoyable for all of us. Not confusing at all! It was nice that everyone had 2 lives and this forced alliances to shift in fun ways over the course of the game. The challenge cards, while interesting at the start, were not as enjoyable near the end as they became more risky to play. I will definitely play this again!
